Belgenmop? / Belgian joke?De Belgische overheden weten van ruim 575.000 van de 10,5 miljoen Belgen niet waar die zijn gebleven. Dat berichtte zaterdag Belgische media op gezag van Kamerleden.
Die kregen te horen dat het zogeheten rijksregister 575.222 personen telt "die ambtshalve geschrapt" zijn. Dat wil zeggen dat de gemeentes waar ze zich ooit hadden ingeschreven nu niet meer weten waar ze wonen of waar ze naar toe zijn.
Onder de Belgen zonder adres zijn personen die al heel erg lang spoorloos zijn. Er staan 2535 personen op die ouder zijn dan 110 jaar. De tien oudste adreslozen zijn op papier althans de leeftijd van 140 jaar reeds gepasseerd.

The Belgian government agencies have no knowledge of the whereabouts of over 575.000 of the 10,5 million Belgians. Belgian media reported this last Saturday on the authority of Members of Parliament.
The latter were told that the so-called Register of the Realm contains 575.222 persons who have been "officially crossed out". That is to say that the municipalities where they had once registered now do no longer know where they live of where they have gone.
Amongst the Belgians without an address are persons who have been gone without a trace for a very long time already. There are 2535 persons on the list who are over 110 years old. The 10 oldest have, at least on paper, already passed the age of 140 years.
De geest blijft vaardig over mij / The spirit remains with meEen tijdje terug, bij het opruimen van één kant van de zolder heb ik het ouwe hoofdbord van m'n bed teruggevonden. Gisteren, bij het uitruimen van een kast die weinig gebruikt wordt, vond ik een oud gordijn van Italiaanse stof terug. En ja hoor, het was meteen weer raak.

A while ago, while clearing out one side of the attic I found the old headboard of my bed. Yesterday while clearing out a cupboard that is hardly ever used, I retrieved an old curtain of Italian fabric. And yes of course it happened again immediately.
Here is the result.. (Her)ken je dat? / Do you recognize that?Vanmiddag, eh ... oeps .... gistermiddag ben ik met een kennis en haar jongste zoontje naar Ikea geweest. Zij kan alleen op zaterdagmiddag, vandaar. Zowel onderweg, als daar binnen viel de drukte gelukkig mee. We gingen eigenlijk alleen om es wat rond te kijken en het enige wat ik wilde kopen was een schoenenrek. We kwamen thuis met: een grote lekker zachte speelgoedhond en een nieuw hoofdkussen voor die kleíne op bed, een set van 6 wijnglazen voor haar, 2 koekenpannen - 1 voor haar en een voor Sietse - en een flinke Kentiapalm met een witte sierpot, ook voor Sietse. Geen schoenenrek.
This afternoon, er ... oops ... yesterday afternoon I went to Ikea with an acquaintance and her youngest son. She can only go on a Saturday afternoon, that's why. Fortunately along the way, as well as in the store the hustle and bustle was less than expected. Actually we only went just to look around some and the only thing I wanted to buy was a shoe rack.
We got home with: a big nice and soft toy dog and a new pillow for the little one's bed, a set of 6 wineglasses for her, 2 frying pans - 1 for her and 1 for Sietse - and a big Kentiaplam with a white decorative flowerpot, also for Sietse. No shoe rack.
Alles ... / Everything ......is vlot verlopen gisteren. Zodra we thuis waren hebben we eerst maar es koffie gedronken en daarbij nog even met degene die de planning van de zorg maakt de laatste puntjes op de i gezet. Ook geregeld dat Pa de eerstkomende weken 's-middags een warme maaltijd bezorgd krijgt. Driemaal raden wat het eerste was wat hij mij daarna vroeg te doen ....... Precies, een paar pakjes sigaretten halen, grinnik. De fysio is 's-middags ook al meteen geweest. En vanochtend is ook de werkster geweest. Zij komt 1x in de week. Dus, alles gaat goed en nu ga ik geloof ik een paar dagen slapen, ha-ha.

... went smoothly yesterday. As soon as we got home we had coffee first and meanwhile crossed the last t's with the person who does the planning for the care that's to be provided. Also arranged for Dad to get his hot meals delivered around noon these first few weeks. You get 3 guesses as to what was the first thing he asked me to do after that ........ Precisely, get him a few packets of cigarettes, grinn. In the afternoon the physiotherapist has also been already. And this morning the cleaning lady has been too. She comes in once a week. So, all is going well and now I think I'm gonna go and sleep a few days, he-he.
Naar huis / HomeMorgenochtend mag ik Pa weer uit het ziekenhuis halen en naar zijn eigen apartement brengen. Zorg en alles is goed geregeld, dus dan krijg ik het weer iets rustiger.

Tomorrow morning I can take Dad out of the hospital and back to his own apartment again. Care and everything is well organised, so I'll be able to take it a bit easier again.
Nou ... / Well ...... de operatie is gelukkig goed verlopen. Pa heeft dus een nieuwe heup. Nu is het afwachten om te zien hoe het herstel verloopt.
